Foundation Transition –

Welcome to Ocean Grove Primary School! We are so looking forward to meeting our 2023 Foundation students and sharing your child’s school journey with you.

Enrolments are now open and school tours will be held on Wednesday 25^th May. An Information Session will also be held on Monday 6^th June at 5pm. You will need to book online for both of these events by visiting the enrolment tab.

We encourage you to enrol your child by Friday 10^th June, to ensure your enrolment is confirmed by the end of Term 2. This will ensure that your child does not miss out on any of the transition activities planned for during Term 3. You can still enrol your child after this date, however our transition program begins in Term 3 for 2023 Foundation students.

Once your enrolment has been confirmed, you will be added to a 2023 Foundation Seesaw Class, through the Seesaw app. Through this app we will communicate the Transition dates and any other information you will need. We will also send through videos from our Specialist teachers and Foundation teachers, to help your child get to know them before they attend our transition days.

Our transition program consists of:

• 3 buddy sessions with their 2023 Year 5 buddy. During Term 3, our 2023 Foundation students can come and meet their Year 5 buddy during 3 lunchtime sessions. During these sessions, we will explore the Foundation classrooms, read books, play, draw and get to know their buddy before the school year begins.
• Specialist Transition Day. One of our Transition Days consists of a rotation through each of our four specialist classes; STEM, Music, PE and Art. The 2023 Foundation students will get to meet our current specialist teachers and explore the learning spaces for these areas. They will also get to experience a short activity for STEM, Music, PE and Art.
• 2023 Foundation Transition Day. The final transition day will involve students spending the morning with one of the 2023 Foundation teachers, where they will get to complete some activities with this teacher, get to know other Foundation students and explore the Foundation classrooms further.
