NATIONAL GALLERY OF VICTORIA LOCAL LANDSCAPES PROJECT

Each year students from grade 6 are selected to take part in this exciting project with the National Gallery of Victoria. The project focuses on local landscapes and the works of famous Australian landscape artists such as Tom Roberts, Charles Conder, Fred Williams, Jane Sutherland and more.

After a visit to the gallery students paint their own landscape based on a place which has special significance to them, using a photo as a reference on which to base their work. Students take many weeks to complete their paintings during lunch breaks as well as before and after school, under the close tutelage of their art teacher.

The project culminates in a display of the student art works in a studio at the National Gallery of Victoria. This is a very special occasion for the students and one we are very proud of.

Check out some of the final works of art below. We are sure you will agree that these final pieces are amazing for primary aged students.
