Inquiry Learning – Big Ideas to promote BIG THINKING

“The meaning of ‘knowing’ has shifted from being able to remember and repeat information to being able to find and use it.”
(National Research Council, 2007)

Inquiry Learning at OGPS is linked to our Big Ideas Scope and Sequence document. Each term the entire school investigates a single BIG IDEA.

  • WHO WE ARE
  • HISTORY
  • OUR EARTH
  • GOING GLOBAL

This means that in Term 1, every child in the school is exploring the concept ‘WHO ARE WE’. Each year level looks at this big idea from a different perspective or a different level of complexity. Below you can see the topics that each year level covers. If you click of the topic, you will be able to read more about it.
