Enrolment Management Implementation Plan
The Department of Education (the department) is supporting schools under enrolment pressure to ensure every child is able to attend their local school. As part of this yearly review, schools under or at risk of enrolment pressure are being supported with enrolment guidance and information. Ocean Grove Primary School has been identified as under enrolment pressure.
To support this, The Department have provided an Enrolment Management Implementation Plan (EMIP) that sets an enrolment restriction for Ocean Grove Primary school and is comprised of the entry criteria outlined below.
Enrolment restriction
Entry criteria for Ocean Grove Primary School is under section 2.2.16 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) to a sufficient accommodation figure of 625 SRP students for the whole school. This means that we must not enrol more than this figure for the school year.
We can only enrol over 625 SRP students for the whole school in the following circumstances
- Where enrolments from in-zone and out-of-zone siblings are higher than this figure. If this occurs, we can only take students from in-zone, out-of-zone siblings, and students on compassionate grounds in exceptional circumstances.
- There are late in-zone or out-of-zone sibling enrolments.
- There are compassionate grounds enrolments or appeals. Compassionate grounds is an overarching consideration and does not form part of the priority order of placement. Each application on compassionate grounds must be considered by the school on a case -by-case basis.
Please note: This EMIP will remain in place until we are advised otherwise. Our enrolment restriction will be reviewed yearly and, if required, updated to reflect any changes to accommodation and in-zone demand.
Further information
A sufficient accommodation figure is the maximum number of students a school can enrol, to ensure they continue to have appropriate physical and operational capacity to provide high quality education to the overall student population. Schools must have sufficient accommodation to meet current and future in-zone demand before enrolling students from outside the school zone.
This enrolment restriction is in line with the Placement Policy, which provides advice on how to prioritise students where there is insufficient accommodation to accept all students who seek entry.
